January Cure- Assignment 18

You know what the best thing about having this blog is?

No, it's not the fame, fortune or free stuff it brings.  Because I don't get any of that.

It's the fact that I can now ask Jon to help me with something that he doesn't want to do because "it's for the blog."

Seriously, it's amazing.

Case in point.  Assignment 18 of the January Cure- A 30-minute closet clean out.

See, we have two closets in the house.  The linen closet, which I've already cleaned this cure, and the catchall closet in the playroom. It's main function is coat closet/game closet/vacuum storage.  And it has this odd little 4-inch high cubby at the bottom that I couldn't even store paper grocery bags in without it eventually making a mess.  I side-eyed that shelf every chance I got but Jon didn't care.  He didn't see how annoying it was.  But  I had a plan.

You know I imagined mice living under here, right?

It was finally time to get rid of that weird little shelf and cross it off the list.

I started by clearing out the bottom and blindly banging at the shelf with a hammer.  (Hey, it could have worked.)  But Jon soon came and asked me to get the circular saw to do it the right way.  I offered to cut it myself but he was afraid if I did I'd only be able to count to nine tomorrow, so I obliged.

Five minutes later and that little shelf was history!  There's still a 5-inch portion of it off to the side that can't be removed, but it makes a nice ledge for my rain boots.

A couple things got relocated into the basement but it's pretty much all still in there.  I put everything else back in it's place and in 15 minutes we were done!  What a great way to (almost) end the January Cure!
