January Cure- Assignment 9

Ok, while I can admit to not keeping up with the January Cure blog posting, I definitely can't cop to slacking on the actual tasks at hand.  Also, at some point I screwed up the assignment numbers so I'm going back to fix that now.  I guess even without math numbers can be tough sometimes.

Assignment 9 is a big one- cleaning the kitchen. The good thing is it's an inside or outside task, meaning you can clean in the fridge and in cabinets and drawers, or just get all the outsides sparkly and clean.  Pick the easier one if you want, progress is progress, right?

Since my January project is painting the kitchen cabinets, I chose the outside track to help me out.  (Plus the interiors look pretty good as is.  Overhauling the kitchen has helped me look at everything in there and lots of things have been stored in the basement or gone into the donation box.)  I wiped down the fridge and stove, stop cleaned the walls then got to work on the cabinets.

A solid "before" pic, cabinet doors are still on and nothing's been scrubbed.

First step was taking the doors off the hinges and removing the drawer fronts.  Nothing like getting up close and personal to see that those things were gross!  Drips and splatters galore, plus toddler-sized fingerprints everywhere.  A little all-purpose cleaner and a magic eraser and those things were as good as new and perfectly prepped for painting!

Naked- yet organized- cabinets.  The toddler has yet to make a snow angel out of flour so that's a plus.

Funny story- I was so careful when taking everything apart to put all the hardware into a bag labeled by drawer or cabinet.  I'm writing on the bags, patting myself on the back proud of my organization skills when I realize that I just piled up the doors and drawers in one big heap!  Whoops!  Luckily I think it should be easy to tell them apart, except for the two drawer fronts closest to the refrigerator but man, oh man, that could have been bad!  So if you ever find yourself wanting to paint your cabinets, remember to label everything, not just some things!

Oh, and as always, the weekend assignment includes fresh flowers!  The daisies from last week arrangement are still going strong so I plucked them out of the old bouquet and put them in a new vase.  I think that totally counts, right?
