January Cure- Assignment 14

When I saw this assignment last week I was in heaven.  Clean the bedroom!

(I know, we've already  been over the peculiar things that excite me, just add this to the list and move on, mmmkay?)

But seriously, to me there's no greater feeling then going to bed in freshly laundered linens in a totally clean room.  The sheets feel softer, the air cleaner and there's no pile of clothes lingering around to remind me there is always work to be done.  Bedrooms should be relaxing.

Soothing colors, soft linens, calming smells are a must.  For the past few months I had friends rave about how essential oils have helped them sleep better or actually feel better, so I jumped on the bandwagon.  And i found my favorite use for them thus far.  I put them in the humidifiers in our bedrooms.  I make a mix of 10 drops lavender and 10 drops orange oil into the water reservoir.  It's just enough to fill the room without overpowering it.  And this week when the little one developed a cough, I used tea tree oil and eucalyptus.  I noticed she definitely coughed a bit less, especially considering you normally cough more laying down.  That's a win!

This is the set I bought.  Just enough to dip my toe in the water to see what I liked and if I'd actually use them.  So far, I'm a fan! The scents are great and I'm having fun mixing the scents. They make a winter collection with scents like cinnamon and nutmeg that I'm thinking about getting, too.

This is on my dresser.  The hair comb I wore at our wedding, along with the perfume.  The rock is from our vacation to Canada's Bay of Fundy.  Seeing these things everyday make me happy.

Anyway, back to the January Cure...

I got straight to work Saturday morning, stripping the linens from the bed and throwing them all in the wash.  I put away everything that wasn't in it's place, and everything that was I wiped down and polished the furniture.  Next came wiping the baseboards, vacuuming the rugs and curtains and cleaning the hardwood floor.  After all that was done it was time to put the bed back together.  Phew, it didn't seem like much doing it, but writing, it sure is a list!

Only one weekend task left before the January Cure is over!

Oh, and don't forget your weekend flowers! I'm getting spoiled with all the flowers around in this cold weather!
