The Kitchen
The heart of a home is said to be in the kitchen. With the amount of time I spend here, I know it's true! The thing is, this kitchen bugs me. From cracked floor tiles to old, doorless cabinets, there are so many things that may be minor, but irk me major. But we bought our house for what it could be, not what it was, so I've spent my days imagining how I'd love for it to be and it's already on its way there!
I can't fully explain how we could buy a house with a space like this. We didn't even bat an eye really, but that was probably because you can't looks at a space like this for too long. That knotty pine was probably the bee's knees when it was first installed, but now it only made the place dark and uninviting. No good meals could be eaten in a place that looks like this. I don't think I need to tell you that one of the first things I changed in this kitchen was that fabric. It definitely helped make the space more appealing, but wait until you see what we've done to really make it shine! And do you see those hooks hanging from the beam? They are only a few of the dozens of hooks and nails we removed from various places throughout the house. The people before us must have hung EVERYTHING.
Well, that's our eat-in kitchen as it was. Just wait to see what we've been up to the past couple weeks! I smile every time I walk into that room now. We've managed to take a dark, disjointed room and bring in the sun! We've still got more work to do, but it's looking great!
So tell me... am I the only person without dozens of small hooks throughout my house? Am I crazy for hating the knotty pine? What would you do to this space?
