Welcoming myself back from hiatus!
Okay, so maybe I stopped blogging because meeting the head mouse got to my head.  I'm back to Earth now.

Okay, so maybe I stopped blogging because meeting the head mouse got to my head.  I'm back to Earth now.

“Welcome back!” she says to herself.  Is anyone still around?

You are, and you're here for the cookie recipe I'm sure.  That will be in the next post, haha.  Which will come soon, I promise!

Where did the past couple months go?!

We went on vacation in May and everything went out the window it seems, but we’re getting back at it.  I think we were so tied up in always doing things around the house on the weekend that once the weather broke, all rules were out the door with us going to the beach and making ice cream runs instead of staying focused on home.  That’s ok though. We all know all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Slowly we’re returning to what needs to be done around the house again.  Rooms are being prepped for painting. The kitchen may finally be getting the final touches done on it.  And I promise to share all the good stuff going on with you.

Little miss helping me dig a trench to bury some chicken wire to stop the groundhog from coming in.  It worked a little until he dug a hole on the other side.

The garden has been planted for the season.  Not only did we not start from seeds, as usual, but we started planting late.  Like, almost June late. It was so rainy that we couldn’t actually get anything into the ground.  And it wasn’t just us, all the soy and corn fields around us had the same problems. There are still areas that you can tell the corn didn’t grow properly because of the rain.  All this has led to a lackluster garden season thus far. Oh, and that groundhog is back. I’ll be making a squirrel out of clay and dynamite if he bites any of the few tomatoes actually growing in there.  He ate all the edamame plants down to the stem already.

It looks like the garden may start picking up though.  With two dozen tomato plants, I’m hoping for a great September harvest, and the zucchini and cucumbers are starting to pick up a bit.  I just need the peppers and eggplants to do the same.  In the meanwhile, I'll try to remember to keep you updated!

Come on zucchini!  You can do it!  Grow!
