So, it's been a while...
I know. I totally dropped off the face of the earth. I was all, "Check out these zillion posts on The January Cure" then just up and left right before it ended.
We finished it all, but man, did we have a bad streak happen. My beloved 93-year-old grandmother, Nana, and my husband's loving 90-year-old grandmother passed away two weeks apart. Even in their 90s, their deaths were unexpected and left both our families without our matriarchs. As if that wasn't enough, add in a toddler with the flu (who of course passed it to me) and a car accident and you'll get why I was gone.
This was not the way we expected to start the new year, but it did give me time to appreciate the good things.
I grew up in a three generation household and was lucky enough to see Nana (and Poppy) everyday. It was busy, loud, and people we're always coming and going. It's something I couldn't fully appreciate until I was older and something I feel so fortunate to have had. Our daughter was lucky enough to see Nana most days of the week after school. And most days of the week, there would be four generations of women under one roof, the house I grew up in. We were truly blessed to have that be our normal and the absence is felt everyday.
We spent the last four weeks taking care of ourselves, our families and adjusting. We're slowly figuring out the new normal and are looking forward to the new beginnings of Spring. We're planning our next projects and gardens and longing for sunny days.
Thanks to all of you for hanging in and understanding. We'll be back to our usual programming soon, because there is still so much good to share. Stay well.
